The St. Helen’s Story

It all began in 1996, seeking a warmer climate and adventure, we found the building we now occupy in Washington, Utah. A seemingly sleepy little town, not much in the way of things to do, good places to eat, get a drink, or a comfortable place to mingle. Remodeling the building was a major quest. The local fire chief suggested a practice burn, rather than a renovation. After 15 months of permits, conditions and negotiations, the legacy began. The feel of the open atmosphere was a hit, the place for locals to meet, eat and mingle, a bit like our own neighborhood “Cheers”. Where else do you get a hug from the owner any time she has time.

The naming, St Helen’s, was seemingly a good fit. Helen Stromberg, owner/operator, places great emphasis on the quality of her meals, home cooked, and done with a lot of pride. Her involvement with neighbors, customers, and acquired friends continually represents the genuine special treatment all around her receive. Her motto, and goal of the entire staff, “May all who enter as guests leave as friends.””

The cuisine is quite traditional with a variety of European favorites, unique pastas, steak and sea food specials. Our “All American Breakfast”, omelets, biscuits and gravy, only a few of the hits on our menu. The Sports agenda, with big screen televisions and pool table, add to the down home feel. Live entertainment on the weekends bring appeal to St Helen’s and there just isn’t anything else like this in the St. George area.
